2021 gets off to flying start with the much anticipated lightweight clash between undefeated Ryan Garcia (20-0) & Luke Campbell (20-3).
The bookmakers have Garcia a big favourite with the odds decreasing rapidly since the fight was first announced, Campbell can be found at huge odds considering many in the industry seeing this as a 50/50 bout.
In this article Luke got the thoughts & predictions from a range of boxers & trainers ahead of the fight..
I think it’ll be a decisive win for Luke Campbell, he’s so much more experienced at a higher level as well as being technically better. I think he’ll win a clear points decision.
The big question for me is we don't really know how good Garcia is, he hasn't been in with anyone of Luke's level yet so this is a big step up for him. He could be the real deal and this fight will tell us for sure because Campbell is a world class operator. If Campbell can keep tight stick to his boxing his experience should see him win on pts but he has to box smart and stick to the game plan.
I’m going to go with Ryan Garcia by points, I’d like to see Luke Campbell do it but I don’t think he will. Like him or not Ryan Garcia is getting better with every fight and I believe he will step up again against Luke Campbell.
Campbell on points, I think he’s going to win a close one & maybe even have to survive a knockdown.
I think the bookies have got it wrong again with this one. I think Campbell does the business. Ryan Garcia, although he looks a big puncher, he might get took to deep waters where he hasn’t really been before. I’m going for Campbell via late stoppage or points.
It’s a hard fight to pick but I do think once Campbell gets used to Garcia’s speed he will take over, I just hope he doesn’t get caught with a big shot from Garcia before he does that. I’m going to go late stoppage win for Campbell
I think Garcia wins. I just think he’s hungrier and fresher, Luke Campbell has had a few chances at a world title and this might be his last chance which I think makes him dangerous but Garcia is on a good run, his confidence is high and I think he’ll come out on top
I have to be honest and think Ryan Garcia may be to much for the 33year old Luke Campbell, I take Garcia heavy points or late stoppage.
